To download CFSR data ********************* 1 - Request an account on https://rda.ucar.edu/datasets/ds093.0/index.html#!description 2 - Then go to the Data Access tab of https://rda.ucar.edu/datasets/ds093.0/index.html#!description 3 - Click 'get a subset' 4 - Adjust temporal selection to you time request 5 - Choose in Parameter presets - WRF model inputs: Vtable.CFSR Pressure levels 6 - Click Continue 7 - If you want only a region, Choose in Spatial selection : Data within a bounding box, click on Draw box under the map, and then adjust the limit of your box 8 - Then submit request, you will be alerted when your data is ready to be downloaded - Repeat steps 2 to 8 but choosing for step 5 : WRF model inputs: Vtable.CFSR Surface - To get forcing for CROCO - repeat steps 2 to 4 - for step 5, do not preselect anything on the Parameter presets menu, but select all necessary variables : # Temperature # Latent heat flux # Sensible heat flux # Specific humidity # Precipitation rate # u-component of wind # v-component of wind # Downward shortwave radiation flux # Upward shortwave radiation flux # Downward longwave radiation flux # Upward longwave radiation flux - Click continue - Then for Output Format, click Converted to netCDF - Choose the following vertical levels: # Ground or water surface # Specified height above ground: 2 m # Specified height above ground: 10 m - In Gridded Products, choose: # 6-hour Forecast # 6-hour Average (initial+0 to initial+6) - Finally choose the grid: 0.312 x 0.312 - Select a bounding box as in 7 if you want - Choose gzip compression option and submit your request You will be alerted when your data is ready to be downloaded. Follow the given link and download the wgetXXX.csh script provided to download the data. Set your password in the wgetXXX.csh script, make it executable (chmod u+x wgetXXX.csh) and execute it to download your data.
